Should Santa be Allowed to Come to School?

Please read the following article. I will be commenting on this article in the post. Click here for the article.

This article is about Fort Worth ISD, and how they did not ban santa from school but they are not allowing him or any other holiday character in the class during instructional time, and students are not allowed to exchange gifts or holiday cards during class. My opinion on this article is that I do not agree with it. I think that santa show kindness and how to get things for others and not being selfish. Holiday parties are a good way to have fun and also teach kids about being kind to others. Kids love having "special guests," come to the classroom  and being able to have someone new in there. I think that kids should still be able to have holiday affiliated parties and also be able to have holiday characters be able to come into classrooms at the teachers request.

Favorite Internet Teaching Resource Site(s)

This week I have been looking at a lot of different websites to start making my lesson plan. My favorite website has been Busy Teacher.  I recommend this website because it had great resources on the subject I was needing and it was not hard to find at all. One of the things the children in my class were learning was addition and subtraction.

  • Busy teacher provided me with a great thing for a lesson idea. Click here to view it.

That website gave me great ideas and then I needed some tools, games, etc. Well Pinterest had great ideas for cute little games, and hand outs for the students in class to do.
  • Here is the link to 1st grade activities on pinterest, feel free to browse the rest of the website.

Week 4

Procrastination is a big problem, especially in high school. Everyone does it, you may have forgotten to do your time sheets for work or forgotten to do a project and had to rush and only put a little bit of effort into it because it was do the next day. Everyone has had to experience the feeling of procrastination, I know i have. One experience that sticks out to me was in geometry my sophomore year, we had to build a building from a certain city  we needed to turn it in before the week of exams so we could take a picture of our classes city. Well me and my partners only did little bits of the project so the last day we were having to rush to finish it and ended up having one of our partners needing to take it home and finish it or we would not have been able to put up a very good product. To prevent procrastination in this situation and many others is to spread out the work so that way you can do what you need to get done on a certain day, you can put up a good product and not have to rush on the last day you have to work on it.

Week3

This week I have many opportunities to be a leader but the one that stuck out to me is while at my field site I realized that I needed to step up and be more of a leader, so in my classroom i decided that I was going to make more of an effort towards. So in the class I decided that I am going to be helping more during class with things that I know how to do very well, because I could have learned it last year in principles of education and training.

Week two

This week my blog is going to be about a young boy in my class and what his learning preferences are. From the two days that is observed not only him but my class a lot of them are kinesthetic, but this young boy is kinesthetic and visual. He loves seeing what my teacher is talking about, and likes being able to feel During math he likes being able to use geo boards with the rubber bands, and he also loves using different shapes to touch and feel and be able to see what they are like instead of just looking at a piece of paper.

week 1

My field site classroom is very fun and has many things in it to keep the kids engaged. She has many colors and many things that kids love to use to learn. She has a smart board that she utilizes a lot. My field site classroom is a room that I am happy to be in and love all the different things my teacher uses.

Image Scrimmage re-do

There are two things that I am going to have to fix on my image scrimmage.
1. I will have to become more confident when speaking to people I do not know.
2. The next thing I will have to fix is when I am reading to children read with more voices and have more fun.

What would technology look like in my classroom?

I think that technology in classrooms is a great idea! It gives students great experiences to use technology that they may not have at home. I would want to use technology as much as possible in my classroom. Using nooks for text books, having tables in the back as a center where kids can use laptops built into the desk and also having a smart board so they kids could experience it and make it convenient for the teacher. Using these tools and other different tools in my classroom one day would probably get the students engaged in class more and get them excited about learning.
